My name is Andy Mills, and I am a journalist, editor, and podcast producer. I co-created 'The Daily' at The New York Times, as well as several documentary series, including 'Rabbit Hole,' ‘Caliphate’ and 'The Witch Trials of J.K. Rowling.'
In my career, I've had the good fortune to report on and produce stories from across America and the world—from South Sudan and Iraq to Seattle and South Dakota—spanning a wide variety of subjects and beats, including science, social media, congress, psychedelics, moral panics, addiction, guns, politics, surveillance, cancel culture, music, the media, terrorism, terror attacks, existential dread, blame, the oldest dead body ever found and much more.
If you've stumbled on this page and are interested in the stories I like to tell and how I like to produce them, maybe start here.
I also occasionally write and give public talks on storytelling, journalism and creating ambitious podcasts.
More personally, I’m a former fundamentalist Christian who grew up in Louisiana and Illinois and once believed that those who didn't share my exact views were damned to hell. I now am an enthusiast for curiosity, skepticism, grace and the transformative power of listening to people you disagree with.
I currently live in a tiny town in the Midwest where I enjoy walking in the woods and kayaking in the river.
